U11's take Premiership with win in wet and wild conditions In near identical conditions to the 2007 U10 grand final, the Lions U11's triumphed in the wet and windy conditions to come out winners by 10 points. The Lions held on to a slender lead going into the final quarter, but all the boys put in big efforts for a courageous victory. Lions 7.17 57 Tigers 7.7 49. Congratulations to Owen Christie who picked up the umpires votes for best on ground.
U11's face Tigers in Grand Final Our U/9's and U/10's unfortunately went down last Saturday. The U/9's were right in the game and ended up going down by just two goals. The U/10's manned up really well and matched it with a very big and capable Swans outfit and in the end only went down by 4 goals. Congratulations to both teams on making the second last week of the finals and on a great season all round. In a replay from 2007, the U/11's play the Tigers who narrowly beat Kiama. The Tigers have always provided a great challange to the Lions, and this match should be no different. The Grand Final is at Figtree Oval at 10.15am. All U11's boys need to be at the ground by 9.30am. At the conclusion of the game, U11 team players, parents and supports are invited to a post GF BBQ at North Beach (at the BBQ's near the Lagoon Restaurant) at 1pm, hopefully to celebrate a Grand Final win! Mike will supply the snags, bread and a soft drink for the kids. BYO if you want anything fancier (like salad). Hope to see as many Lions supporters from all grades at Figtree this weekend to support our U11 Lions. Tickets and other information, contact: The Business End The U9 & U10 Lions Juniors have progressed to the second rounds of the end of year final playoffs. Both teams played well in the first week, and are in with a good show this coming week. Good luck Lions Our U11's fought out a titanic battle against Kiama Power and came out on top by the narrowest of margins - 1 point. The Lions defended strongly in the final quarter and held out the Power who had the aid of a good breeze. The Lions have a break this weekend from playing, but there will be a training session on Saturday. Make sure you get the newsletter this week at training for details. Our U13's were not so lucky, going down by just 7 points in the minor semi-final. It was a great game and the boys should be proud of their efforts, both in this game and throughout the year. Hope to see as many of you as possible at NDP this weekend to support our Lions, and help out on the day as the Lions are hosting the preliminary finals.
